Observation Task 4:

Development Of Early Writing Skills

Reflection

1. What developmental writing stages are the majority of the students in?

In KG2.6 children try to develop their writing every day. Not just by using the letters but in their writing area they try to writing sentences especially the student who are in the highest level. However, the children who is in the middle and low level, they also try writing by copying the sentences. In this class, children always have a small book about the letter they learn about it. With this small book they copy what inside the book and also they try to read it. For example: this week children learn V letter so they will have the V booklet and inside this booklet small sentences and each sentence have V letter word. In addition, I like how the MST let the children practice the letter they learn about it by practice in the board during circle one "before start the activities". That is helpful for both teacher and children to learn quickly by seeing others how they writing "scanning".

2. Describe and explain two (2) suggested strategies that the teacher can use to help the majority of the students within their developmental writing stage.

There are a lot of strategies that the teacher can use it to help the children to improve their writing. The first suggest is copy what I see. In this strategy the teacher can give the children words or sentence and they will copy like what they see but they should know what they write. For example: like what I did in my five senses lesson, in focus group I let the children test and then I asked them what they have test. After that, I told them short sentence like "I can taste ……." and they repeat as me. Then I give each child card sentence to copy it in their one booklet. So, during this activity the children can improve to skills in one time that mean they can improve their speaking and their writing. The second strategy the teacher can use it is writing by suing a play-dough mat. Through this strategy the children scanning the letter during making the letter. They will have an empty letter and they will fill this letter by using the play-dough. Also, as Piaget said that "children learning by doing" so the children will saving the letter because they will see it and they scanning.
